My handsome boysWow! Is it time to go back to work already!? I have thoroughly enjoyed my summer home with Kaz. He is growing and changing so fast! He just went for his 6 month appointment this past Tuesday. He weighs 20 pounds on the dot! (I asked the doctor if he was overweight... he said no). He is 27.25 inches long. He is in the 95th percentile for his weight; 75th percentile for his height; and his head size was only in the 50th percentile (he takes after Jared ... I have a big head). Kaz cut his first 2 teeth this week! They are little, but they are sharp! He pretty much is sitting up on his own and when left on the floor on his belly... he somehow ends up on another part of the room (I think he will be crawling soon). He is still nursing, but has now added solid food to his diet. I have enjoyed making his baby food. So far we have tried bananas, unsweetened applesauce, peaches, carrots, green beans, and sweet potatoes. It turns out that Kaz is a pretty good eater. Of course his least favorite are the green beans. He will eat them, but not without out a disgusted face and a little gagging (like father like son)! Next we are going to try pears and avacado - not together of course.
One thing we have done quite a bit of is swim. Kaz loves to swim! He splashes his arms and kicks his legs! He doesn't mind the water in his face. A few weeks ago we went to the beach with several friends of ours and their new babies. Kaz went out in the water with Daddy and then sat at the water's edge with Mommy. We have gone swimming several times at Nana and Poppy's house - their pool is even a little bit chilly and Kaz just takes a deep breath and starts splashing! We've even been on Lake Carol with our friends a couple of times. I'm glad he likes the water. Jared and I love being in and near water - whether it is the lake, the river, the ocean, or the pool! Of course Jared hopes that Kaz will also take after his love of wakeboarding too! I'm all for it as long as he wears a helmet.

My parents were able to come down in the middle of July for Kaz's dedication. It was very special to have my parents and Jared's parents there for such an important occasion. The dedication was held at our church, Tampa Covenant Church. The dedication was a time when Jared and I publicly dedicated our son, Kaz, to the Lord. We acknowledged that he is a gift of God and that is ultimately the Lord's. We dedicated ourselves to raising him and teaching him in the Word of the Lord. We dedicated ourselves to each other in keeping our marriage priority. Our immediate family and church family dedicated themselves to supporting, encouraging, and praying for us as we raise our son. We truly believe that these are all important and necessary aspects to raising Kaz.
